As the snow melts, and the afternoon sun warms, enjoy a visit to the Swan capital of Sussex County in late winter! Join resort naturalist Dennis Miranda on a walking tour of this underappreciated natural area with a treasure trove of wildlife and birds. Meet at the Minerals Spa Hotel and carpool to our destination. Dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Loaner binoculars are available. Bald Eagle Tour
Our National Symbol, the Bald Eagle congregates along the Delaware River and its tributaries in winter by the dozens. Join Resort Naturalist Dennis Miranda on an enjoyable late winter adventure in search of the Bald Eagles; visit the historic Roebling Bridge and enjoy the panoramic views along the Scenic Byway of Rte. 209. The Appalachian Trail to Pochuck Mountain is a seldom visited section, however, the vernal ponds and mature forest are home to many critters. DeKorte State Park is New Jersey’s foremost urban nature preserve. Join Resort Naturalist Dennis Miranda as you tour to Secaucus and visit the vast wetlands of the Hackensack Meadowlands. Sausage & Beer Dinner
Executive Chef Michael Weisshaupt and Most of you have probably never heard of Boaks Beer even if you live in New Jersey where it is brewed. Boaks is about a small as a brewery can get. The owner, brew master, book keepers, sales rep and distributer is Brain Boak. But, the wonderful thing about the craft beer industry, big does not mean better. Boaks beer has a lineup of four beers Abbey Brown, Double BW, Monster Mash, and Two Blind Monks., invite sausage and beer extremists to a rare behind-the-scenes look at how they prepare for the annual event. Participants will learn the history of sausage making, enjoy a tasting of cooked and cured sausages, participate in a sausage-making demonstration, and, of course, take home the fruits of their labor. The class will then head over to Brain Boak and learn the secrets behind the four beers Abbey Brown, Double BW, Monster Mash, and Two Blind Monks.
